When painting outdoors, its important to understand how weather and the levels of humidity can effect the paint’s ability to adhere to surfaces and reach the maximum lifetime.
Vocabulary
Relative Humidity- The amount of water vapor in the air
Dew Point- The temperature in which water droplets condense and dew is formed
Surface Temperature- The hotness or coolness of an object’s surface measured by Fahrenheit or Celsius.
Fast Facts
-No coatings shout be applied if the surface temperature is at least 45 degrees Fahrenheit and 5 degrees above the dew point
-Do not paint when the relative humidity is above 85%. Ideally, you should pain at 70% or below
-To calculate the dew point, use the following formula:
Current Temperature (°F) – ((100 – Relative Humidity) / 5) = Dew Point
